I have light fixtures up in a couple trees. The cable goes under the driveway and then up the trees. There is a switch in the garage for this by the subpanel. It is on a 15A breaker, but the wire seems to be 12 gauge.

I need to remove the trees. How do I safely cap off the wiring? I would like to keep the circuit available for something in the future.
