Calming waters Pond tour highlights the tranquility of a beautiful garden
DAVISON TWP. Everyone knows a cops life can be stressful.
Charles Schecter, who retired from the Flint Police Department after 30 years on the force, was no exception.
I created this for him, said his wife, Judy, looking out across the backyard oasis of winding paths, a goldfish pond and two waterfalls that she and her husband built themselves.
He needed a totally different atmosphere when he came home, said Schecter, a surgical registered nurse when she started working on her masterpiece at their suburban home more than three decades ago.
The setting proved so strong that Charles Schecter said he chose to stay put rather than move into Flint in 1988 to become police chief under then-Mayor Matthew Collier.
