Seeking a sense of peace in home decor? Give stone a chance
A closet gave way to this prayer and reading alcove.
A garden outside the chapel features flowers mentioned in the Bible.
It was in the ancient city of Bath, England, and particularly while relaxing in a stone-walled soaking pool in 2006, that Elizabeth Pinky Edens became enchanted with the strength and serenity that can be drawn from stone.
“Before I left England, I loved stone so much,” she says.
Table This
Found this cool table that also acts like a shefl on Huset, a website devoted to Scandinavian design. The designer, Philip Edis, was apparently inspired by a clown he saw as a child spinning several hula hoops. What do you think? Cool or crazy? Price is $500.

Chocolate is happiness says Carolyn White and she proved it at a Dove Chocolate Discoveries party
S
I never turn down an invitation to my daughter Heather’s home – there are grandchildren there.
Last Friday there was also chocolate – really good chocolate.
My daughter hosted a Dove Chocolate Discoveries Party, hosted by a blast from my past, Carolyn White.
I met Carolyn when she set up the first ghost tour for the State Theatre way back when.
While I have heard of various other home parties, the Dove party is a new one on me.
For good reason, says Carolyn Dove has only been coming into homes for three or four years.

Home Decor: Easy tips for summer outdoor dining
Hooray! The first official day of summer has finally arrived!! While it might seem like summer has been around for months in some parts of the country, and may never arrive in others, the calendar and mother nature say it is summertime. And one of my favorite summertime activities is outdoor dining.

Dining outdoors can be something as simple as a tray on your lap right next to the barbecue or an elegant table set under the stars. But for most of us it means gathering family and friends together and enjoying warm summer evenings in comfortable surroundings. Make your outdoor dining experience simple and fun with these easy tips:
- Collect unbreakable plates, glasses and silverware that can be used over and over again. Go for an eclectic, mismatched set or choose elegant plates that look like real china from sources such as frenchbull.com or laplates.
- Purchase or make your own washable cloth napkins and table cloths out of summer friendly fabrics like gingham, cotton and linen.
- Replace chair cushions with easy to clean vinyl in bright summer colors.
- The evenings may be longer but lighting is still important. Use plenty of candles, lanterns, hurricanes and even lamps made for outdoor use. For safety’s sake consider using battery operated candles, especially with kids running around.
- Don’t forget a personalized apron for the head cook!
Assemble these “ingredients” and you are guaranteed to have wonderful outdoor dining experiences all summer long.
